Technique #4.

We thought this was an interesting article. Many true things are said in jest.

The Nelson Method - Five Steps to Your Own Technique.
By Craig Nelson in JMPT vol. 16, No. 2 Feb. 93, pp.115-117

Step 1. The Name, most use their own name so others know it is theirs. You want to use words that lend weight and credibility to your technique. The best word to use is "Neuro". We love nerves and anything related to them. We are definitely serious about this nerve business. Other good words or prefixes; Biomechanics - Makes you sound like you're an engineer Energy - Allows you to invoke Innate Physic - makes it sound "natural" Universal - Indicates that you can treat everything Quantum - Meaningless, but sounds good Kinesiology - It's been used, but still has some life in it.

Step 2. The Science, everything has to be scientific. Most chiro's are intimidated by the science and give up on their own technique. This is not the point, the point is that their technique sounds scientific, not that it actually is scientific. In this instance complicated mathematical equations work really well, or relating your technique to Quantum mechanics. And I quote; "The quantum paradox of wave, particle duality directly relates to the question of the etiology of neuro-pathomechanics at the molecular level. This duality requires that there be a preexisting kinesthetic disunion before any actual degeneration can take place." Neils Bohr clearly implied this in his 1938 monograph, "The binding energy of lepton/hadron interactions." You will note many of the keywords contained within in the previous paragraph, neuro, mechanics, kinesthetic...."It is almost impossible to overuse them"..."Science can be fun if it's just make-believe!"

Step 3. The Equipment, your technique must require the use of specialized equipment that only you know how to supply and work. This is important for credibility and revenue.

Step 4. The Sale, this is done by invoking the memory of D.D. or B.J. Palmer. The point being that the technique is the one that is true to the legacy of the founder and the developer. The technique is the keeper of the flame. This goes without saying you can use the word INNATE as often as possible.

Step 5. The Don'ts, don't attempt to test the reliability or effectiveness of your technique. You do not want to ask questions you do not know the answer to. Plus testing a technique is hard work. Don't mess with the unwritten covenant that exists among us. The system has worked for over 100 years don't mess with what WORKS. If you follow these steps you will be well on your way to being a Neuro-Spine-Chiro-Guru.
